In this podcast, we take you into Breda's past. We go way back in time to arrive at the roots of our royal house, which originated here. The podcast is about Het Speelhuis (the playhouse), which came to life through 4 half-brothers.

The Vanity

When we talk about a French upbringing, do you immediately know what we mean? Do you indeed think of a boy for whom right appearance is number one? Frederik Hendrik, the vanity, was raised by his mother, who taught him from an early age that appearance and standing were of great importance.

Cities Dwinger

But the name "Van Oranje" not only brings you prestige, it also brings you certain responsibilities. Despite losing his father when he was only a few months old, little Frederik had his brother Maurits as a great role model. Frederik Hendrik, in addition to being a vanity, also proved pugnacious.

The woman

Not only on the battlefield was this brother a warrior, but he also often went home with the win in the battle for women. Until his legacy depended on settling down with a steady partner and an offspring, he went for the player existence.

Het Speelhuis

The offspring he took care of eventually rebuilt the Speelhuis, which remained standing until more than two centuries later.
